    Announcement and Call for Abstracts

    Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the PMIP2020 conference now is open to call for abstract.

The PMIP2020 conference will take place in Nanjing from 22 to 26 June October 26th to October 30th, 2020.

The PMIP2020 Nanjing conference will gather the whole community together once again to put forward the progresses of the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project. It will provide the opportunity to discuss progress since the last PMIP meeting in Stockholm in 2017; evaluating results of the new PMIP4/CMIP6 simulations; proposing new ideas on PMIP4 and proxy-system modelling; reviewing the new approaches for quantitative climate reconstructions and comparisons with model simulations; sharing results on different aspects of paleoclimate studies, including but not limit to climate transitions, abrupt events, climate variability and linkages with changes in climate mean state.

The conference will be centered on the activities of eight working groups

    1. Past2K
    2. Quaternary Interglacials
    3. PlioMIP2
    4. Deglaciations
    5. Pre-Pliocene climates (DeepMIP)
    6. P2FVAR (Past2Future)
    7. PMIP-DATA
    8. PMIP infrastructure

Each abstract should identify its relevance to at least 1 working group, but no more than 2 working groups. This will help the organization of the final sessions.

The conference will consist of poster sessions for researchers to highlight recent group activities and their individual interests; several invited and/or selected talks to demonstrate the working groups’ activities; keynote speakers to highlight the broader picture around PMIP; paper collaborator speed-dating. The latter portion of the conference will be devoted to organizing the future activities and direction of the working groups.

The conference will provide opportunities for early career scientist to develop their networks within PMIP. They are strongly encouraged to attend the conference to contribute fresh ideas and help shape the activities of the different PMIP working groups. Some travel assistance will be provided for a selective group of postdocs and senior Ph.D students from outside China.

We welcome you to attend the PMIP2020 conference in Nanjing. Please visit the conference website www.pmip2020.com for abstract submission (deadline 20 February June 30th 2020), registration (opens on 25 February 2020 August 1st 2020, to be confirmed), and hotel reservation.
